KENYA

Kenya is known as the safari capital of the world.  Unlike any other destination, Kenya is the essence of diversity. A land of many contrasts with its unique combination of fauna and flora, beautiful beaches, lakes, breathtaking scenery, majestic mountains, congenial weather and hospitable people.

The Republic of Kenya straddles the Equator and within its borders is a land containing almost every known landform, from glacial ice to arid desert, mountain massifs to rich savannahs, large lakes, rivers and dense forests. Utterly unique, Kenya is the only land in which you can visit the ‘Cradle of Mankind’, sail a Swahili dhow past a 16th century Portuguese fort, and meet a Maasai warrior.

And as if all of that is not enough, you should know that Kenya excels in the delivery of quality time for the family and unabashed romance, unrivalled conference facilities and unmatched incentives.

The dry season in Kenya corresponds to the high season. Tourist numbers peak during the months of July - October and lodge prices are at their highest. The main reason for this is the annual migration of wildebeest comes through the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Although the exact timing varies from year to year, August and September are typically the most reliable for river crossings. Correspondingly, with the ungulates coming through, the grasses are much shorter, and wildlife viewing is at its best. January and February are also hot, dry months in Kenya.

The green season in Kenya corresponds to low season and mid season rates. For those in the know, this is a great time to visit, with low tourist numbers and great deals on accommodation. With good water and sustenance conditions, this time of plenty is the calving season for many animals, and the landscape turns to a lush green. The downside of green season is the tall grasses, which make gameviewing much more challenging. The months of April, May and November are typically marked with heavy rains, which can be a deterrent. Some lodges do close around this time. March, June and early December are less wet, and can be an excellent time to visit. Late December again turns to high season, as Christmas vacations kick in.
